| Don was a professing
Christian we met on the patio at the coffeeshop. He told us
what
God was doing for him (getting $100 bills and other things). We
had a long talk and Jim shared as he could, hoping to balance his focus
on
the "blessings" against the sacrifice at the cross. (Greg even chimes
in for a few minutes on this one.) |
|
| This
was an encounter with eight homeless people at the park. It was a good
chance to share the gospel, and Jim walked them through
sin, righteousness, judgment and grace. They had been drinking beer as
we got
there, and towards the end of things it was cool to hear one of them
say "Man, this is a real buzz kill. Because
it's true!" |
|
| Ron said he came from a "non-practicing" Catholic background, but he wasn't sure what happened after you die. He also really had no idea who Jesus was or what He had done. | |
| This was a family visiting from San Francisco. We came across them at the park, which lead to a street interview and a chance to share the gospel. | |
| A
witnessing encounter with a mother and daughter as they waited for the
DMV to open. While Jim talked with them about sin, judgment and the
cross more
people came to get in line, meaning others got to hear the
message as well. |
|
| Gary's
a young Christian we've met a time or two before. He and a young woman
were playing
guitars when Jim got to talking with them. It seems she was
vaguely familiar with the Way
of the Master
from some witnessing she'd done in the past. However, she also has a
problem with people saying homosexuals would go to Hell. Jim got to
share
and it was an interesting talk. |
|
| Jeremy was a Messianic Jew. Josh
followed a blend of Christianity and
native american religion. Amber was a former wiccan that apparently had
five near-death experiences. Ashley wasn't sure what she believed, but
called herself Christian. This was an interesting talk. |
|
| Lindsey
& Liota wanted to know if we thought they'd go to Hell for
being
lesbians. This is a good example of how using the Law to address the
conscience cuts through landmines like homosexuality. Note: The first couple of
minutes are faint, but the volume then gets better. |
|
| Juggalos
are followers
of ICP (Insane Clown Posse). In talking with these guys, Jim found they
learn some rather troubling theology from the band. In the
end, we pray Jim
was able to shine the light of the truth into some confused darkness. |
|
| Michael, Isaiah, Jeremy, David
and Caitlin had just gotten back from community service and were
waiting outside the juvenile court. This was a great talk. Afterwards
Jim
gave them each a Greatest
Gamble DVD, which meant the gospel went
into five different homes from there. |
|
|
This was the
first time Jim broke off a witnessing encounter without fully going
through grace. Sadly, they didn't come to a point where they really
cared about their sins, judgment or hell. Jim did what he could, but in
the end he knew better than to cast the precious pearl of our Lord and
Savior's sacrifice before swine (Matthew 7:6). |
|
| Andrew was an SDA, but Jim took
care to avoid divisive
doctrinal rabbit trails and stay focused on the cross and the simple
gospel (1 Corinthians 2:2). This one-2-one was a case where Andrew was
already pretty humble, and Jim got to focus more on the grace of our
Savior. |
|
| A Christmas themed one-2-two.
You can even hear holiday music in the background. |
|
| Amidst the Christmas shopping
frenzy going on at Walmart, the message of salvation was shared just
outside the store. |
